How To Start Therapy
Step 1: 20-Min Free Consultation (Virtual or Phone)
During a consultation, you can get to know the therapist, talk briefly about your main challenges and goals, and ask any questions about how therapy works. The therapist will discuss the next steps with you.
We are not currently accepting new clients. Join the waitlist to find out when we are.
Step 2: 80-Min Initial Intake Therapy Session (Virtual) - $150 (No HST)
During the initial intake session, you can discuss your personal history, current challenges, and goals for therapy. The therapist will conduct an assessment of your overall well being. This session helps you and the therapist to get to know each other and establish a therapeutic relationship and treatment approach.
The therapist will discuss booking next sessions after the meeting or you can go ahead and book on your own at any time on our booking page.
Step 3: 50-Min Therapy Sessions (Virtual) - $150 (No HST)
Following the initial intake session, you can meet with your therapist for 50-minute therapy sessions.
Many clients prefer to meet weekly, while others are comfortable meeting bi-weekly, monthly, or as needed. You can discuss this with your therapist.
You can book 50-minute virtual therapy sessions online on our booking page.

Most insurance providers offer coverage for therapy services offered by a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Please contact your provider to find out more details about what your coverage includes. We do not directly bill your insurance. We process your payments via your credit card and provide you with a receipt. You can then submit an insurance claim with your receipt and receive reimbursement from your provider.
-
To avoid a cancellation fee, we require 48 hours notice for appointment cancellations or rescheduling. For late cancellations, late rescheduling (less than 48 hours), or missed appointments (no-shows), we charge the full fee to the credit card on file.
Please note that when you pay for a therapy appointment, you are paying for the therapist’s services and the time slot. Late cancellations, late rescheduling, and missed appointments delay your work and take time slots away from other clients in need.
-
If you know you’re going to be late, please contact the clinic with an estimate of when you will arrive. If we haven’t heard from you, we will contact you 5 minutes after your appointment time. You’re not required to talk about sensitive topics in therapy unless you feel comfortable doing so. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your therapist will respect your boundaries and pace. It's important to address what feels relevant and manageable to you at the time.
While discussing sensitive topics can often lead to significant breakthroughs and healing, you have control over what you share and when. Your therapist is there to support you and will help you navigate these conversations when you're ready, ensuring you feel safe and understood throughout the process.
-
There’s no fixed set of time or number of sessions that you must commit to therapy, unless you have a specific court-mandated requirement. Many people prefer to meet weekly, but this can vary depending on your lifestyle, issues, goals, schedule, budget, and insurance coverage.
If you're struggling with difficult issues or facing many challenges, you may prefer to increase the frequency of therapy. Once your goals are accomplished, you can reduce the frequency of your sessions. Some people prefer to meet for a single session to discuss a specific challenge or experience.
You are welcome to stop therapy at any time; however, it is suggested that you discuss with your therapist to wrap things up smoothly.
-
Privacy and confidentiality are key components of what makes therapy effective. With trust, clients can open up to their therapist about sensitive topics, knowing that their therapist will not offer judgment or discuss it with others. This allows for deep personal exploration and therapeutic work to unfold. However, there are certain situations where confidentiality will be broken:
You disclose information that indicates you or someone else is in imminent danger.
You disclose information about abuse or neglect of a child under the age of 16.
You disclose information about abuse by a healthcare professional.
You disclose information about the abuse or neglect of a senior.
The court subpoenas your records.
The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) requests your records as part of an audit.

Virtual therapy is convenient and has been proven to be effective. You can engage in therapy sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own home, eliminating the need for a commute and saving valuable time. Many people find that the familiar environment of their home enhances their comfort and openness during sessions, leading to more effective therapy. These virtual calls can be made using most computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, providing flexibility and ease of access.
